Mike Gordon was born on March 16, 1948 in Manchester, England, United Kingdom. He is the son of Frederick Gordon, an aircraft fitter, and Gladys (Jones) Gordon.
Mike Gordon attended Rochdale College of Art in Lancashire, England, United Kingdom.
While attending college, on the advice of his parents, Mike Gordon worked as an engineer. In 1983 he switched his career to freelance illustrator. In 1989 Gordon was a creator of promotional cartoons, including designs for Post-It Notes. In 1993 he escaped the gray climes of England and moved to California, where he worked harder than ever, to provide support for his family.

Mike is divorced. His former wife’s name is Maria. She is a writer. They have four children: Carl, Lucy, Kimberley, Jay.
