Coffman is the founder and co-chair of the bipartisan congressional Balanced Budget Amendment Caucus which aims to achieve passage of H. J. Res. 1, the balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution.(3)
Along with fellow Colorado Republican Rep. Douglas Lamborn, Coffman has joined the Tea Party Caucus, which was created in summer 2010 by outspoken Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.).
Coffman and his wife Cynthia are members of University Park United Methodist Church. Mrs. Coffman was Chief Counsel to Governor Bill Owens prior to being the Chief Deputy Attorney General for the State of Colorado.
