Mikhail Ivanovich Arefiev

Background

Arefiev was born on 26th August 1905 in Voronezh, Russia.

Education

In 1924-1926 he studied at Voronezh Artistic and Industrial Technical School.

Career

In 1926-1927 Arefiev was an artist of Cultural Centre named after Karl Marx, in 1929-1934 – the head of the drawing department of the Directorate of the South-Eastern Railway, in 1941-1944 – a painter in the railway system, since 1945 - in Painting workshop of the Voronezh Regional Association "Artist".

Achievements

• He participated in the exhibitions of the Voronezh branch of the Association of Youth of the Association of Artists of the Revolution (1926-1927), as well as city, regional, interregional exhibitions of the Voronezh Union of Artists (1947-1955). Mikhail Arefiev was the author of pictural and graphic portraits of V. I. Lenin, paintings on military-patriotic themes: "Guest night in the St. George Hall on Victory Day" (1947), "Lenin and Stalin in Gorki" (1949), "Fidelity to the Motherland" (1952, together with P.Ya. Komarchev) and others.
