As student worked in North.Ye. Vvedenskiy’s physiology laboratory, where he received gold medal for work O prodolzhitel’nosti perezhivaniya nerva (Duration of Nerve Experience). 1904, after graduate, retained in Department of Mental and Nervous Diseases under V.M. Bekhterev.
1908-1911 on assignment abroad. 1912 consultant, Warsaw Military Hospital. 1914 consultant on nervous diseases, Nikolayevskiy Military Hospital, Saint St. Petersburg.
1916-1936 head, Department of Nervous Diseases, Leningrad Military Medical Academy. Major research on study of motor and reflex disorders in the light of the theory of evolution. Main theme of works that many symptoms of disease of the nervous system, including Babinski’s sign, Rossolimo’s Reflex and Wernicke-Mann’s contracture, reflect the past evolution of the nervous system.
Various works on this problem reflect trend which provided basis for corticovisceral pathology later developed by K.M. Bykov.
