After the Military service Mikhail Timofeevich continued his labour activity, combining it with studies at the Moscow Power Engineering Institute. In 1966 he graduated from MPEI (Moscow Power Engineering Institute) with a degree in industrial electronics.
Since 1964 Mikhail Timofeevich worked as an engineer, senior engineer, leading designer, lead engineer, acting head of the Research Electromechanical Institute sector. In 1984 he was appointed as a Deputy Director General of the NGO Delta, the director of the Plastik plant. In 1987 he was elected as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Timiryazevsky District Council of Moscow.
Since 1991 to the present he holds the post of prefect of the Northern Administrative District, the Minister of the Government of Moscow. Under the direct leadership of the prefect, a complex development of two microdistricts of the Eastern Degunin was carried out. A lot of work is being done to reconstruct environmentally harmful enterprises. At the present time, cast iron foundry has been discontinued at the Radicon plant, on the place of which a cultural and business center is being designed. The first Recovery Center for Children and Teenager "Slava" (orphanage) in Moscow was opened.
In 1997, Mikhail Timofeevich was awarded with the honorary title "Honored Builder of the Russian Federation". For the great contribution to the cause of the revival of spirituality in 1998, the prefect of the SAO, Demin was also awarded with the Diploma and the Order of the Russian Orthodox Church "Saint Blessed Prince Daniel of Moscow" of the third degree.
