Fought in World War 1 and suffered from gas poisoning. February 1918 volunteered for Red Army. Fought in Civil War; then staff and teaching posts.
1941 commanded infantry div and took part in defense of Zolotonosha, Kremenchug, Poltava and Khar’kov;January 1942-1945 commanded 13th Army which fought on the Bryansk, Centr and 1st Ukraine Fronts in the battle of Kursk, the forcing of the Dnieper, the liberation of Chernigov, NovogradVolynskiy and Rovno, took part in the L’vov-Sandomir, VistulaOder and Berlin operations and in the final campaign in Czechoslovakia. After World War 2 commanded Odessa, North Caucasian, West Siberian and Siberian Military district. Deputy, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Supreme Soviet of 1946, 1950 and 1954 convocations.
