Studied at Law Faculty, Saint St. Petersburg University.
1891 helped found Nizhniy Novgorod’s first Marxist circle. From 1893 in Saint St. Petersburg, where he was a member of a Social-Democratic circle. September 1893 made the acquaintance of Lenin and joined Centr Group, Saint St. Petersburg League for the Liberation of the Working Class.
1896 arrested and 1898 exiled for three years to village Yennakovskoye, Yeniseysk Province. In exile again met Lenin. Summer 1899 signed Lenin’s “Protest of the Russian Social—Democrats Against the Economists’ ‘Credo’”.
From 1901 “Iskra” agent. 1902 arrested; 1904 exiled to Irkutsk Province. Auf 1904 fled from exile and went abroad.
Coopted to Central Committee, Russian Social-Democratic Workers’ Party. Late 1904 sided for a while with the Mensheviks, but then rejoined Bolsheviks. 1905 returned to Russia.
1905-1908 contributed to Bolsheviks newspapers. 1908 abandoned politics and left the Party. After 1917 October Revol worked for various Soviet organs.
Worked for Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic People's Commissariat of Education. 1923-1931 insurance agent with Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics trade mission in England. From 1931 taught for languages at higher educational establishments in Leningrad.
From 1932 retired on pension.
