Mikhail Mikhailovich Melentyev graduated from the Ostrogozhsky gymnasium (1905), the medical faculty of Moscow University (1911).
Mikhail Mikhailovich Melentyev worked as an apprentice in the Ostrogozhskaya Yakovleva's pharmacy (1899-1902), in hospitals in Moscow, Vladimir, Chkalov, Tarusa Kaluga region, in Alabino village (Moscow region).
Mikhail Mikhailovich was unreasonably repressed in 1933 and sentenced to 3 years of exile. He worked on the construction of the White Sea Canal. He wrote diaries based on which later he wrote memoirs "My time is my time" (Saint Petersburg, 2001) covering the period from 1882 to 1964.
Since his youth and till his death he collected an assemblage of paintings and porcelain which he took to his native city.
