In 1876-1878 Mikhail Yefimovich studied at the Kiev music school. He graduated from the Moscow State Conservatory (now Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory) (1881, class J. Galvani).
Mikhail Yefimovich worked in theaters in Kiev, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Kharkov, Odessa, Saratov, Yekaterinburg and other cities. In the 1880s he repeatedly toured Voronezh (including in 1886 when he performed the role of the Synod in the opera "Demon" by Anton Rubinstein). He toured the United States (1898-1900). Among the main roles: Lensky, German ("Eugene Onegin", "Queen of spades" Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky), Jose ("Carmen" Georges Bizet), Duke, Othello ("Rigoletto", "Othello" Giuseppe Verdi) and others.
Mikhail Yefimovich was a teacher in Moscow, and Kiev. Since 1912 he was a professor at the Saratov Conservatory, where he taught solo singing and opera. Together with Nikolai Ivanovich Speransky he organized the opera house in Saratov (1918-1920) and was its Director.
