1917 graduate Molodcchno Teachers’ Seminary. 1921-1922 studied at Belorussian Theatrical Studio, Moscow.
1917-1918 served in army. 1918-1920 studied at Belorussian Teachers’ Training Institute, Minsk and did undercover work for Belorussian Communist organisation. 1923-1927 chairman, Maladnyak lit associate of proletarian writers and ed, newspaper Savetskaya Belarus'.
1927 joined Polymya lit associate. Joined Belorussian Association of Proletarian Writers. Member, Institute of Belorussian Culture.
Member, Central Committee, Communist Party (Bolsheviks) Belorussian and Belorussian Central Executive Committee. 1919 first work published: wrote mostly on Soviet subjects in "revol romantic” style. Also wrote purely nationalist works, the most popular of which, the play Na Kupale (On Kupala) based on Belorussian folk themes, was banned.
1937 arrested by NK.VD and held under investigatory arrest in Minsk Prison.
