Career

As boy learned printer’s trade on Tipton Times. Later taught 1 term country school. Admitted to bar on examination, 1880.

Master commissioner circuit court, 1882-1883. Assistant reporter Supreme Court of Indiana, 1885-1889. Judge criminal court, Indianapolis, 1890-1894.
