Milton Silverman was a student of Stanford University, receiving his Bachelor of Arts in 1930. In 1937 he completed his studies at University of California, San Francisco, earning Master of Arts. In 1938 he graduated from Stanford University with Doctor of Philosophy degree.
Mr. Silverman worked as a science editor for San Francisco Chronicle, between 1934 and 1959. From 1943 to 1946 Mr. Silverman served at Office of Scientific Research & Development, Washington, D.C. During 1946-1966 Milton Silverman served at California State Wine Advisory Board, San Francisco, as a director of Medical Research. He joined Office of the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, Washington, D.C., working as a special assistant to the Secretary from 1966 to 1969.
Since 1969 Milton Silverman acted as a silverman senior lecturer in Pharmacology at Schools of Medicine & Pharmacy, University of California, San Francisco. He was a consultant for the following organizations: U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the House Ways & Means Committee of the U.S. Congress, the U.S. Social Security Administration, the National Institutes of Health, the School of Medicine at the University of Southern California. Mr. Silverman was a lecturer at the School of Medicine, Stanford University.
Milton Silverman was an author of more than one hundred articles in Saturday Evening Post, Collier’s, Reader's Digest, Coronet, Look, and other journals. Mr. Silverman was also an author or co-author of more than a dozen articles in various scientific and technical journals.
For over forty years, Mr. Silverman has authored, co-authored, and edited popular, government, and scientific publications on the effects of prescription and over-the-counter drugs. His most widely known work focuses on the politics of manufacturing, marketing, and prescribing drugs, presenting a thoroughgoing critique of the U.S. pharmaceutical industry.
