Mitosedayū Tokiwazu was born in 1907 in Tokyo, Japan. Originally named Masaji Fukuda, the eldest son of Matsuodayū Tokiwazu III.

Career
At the age of seven succeeded to his father's former name of Mitosedayu. He made his debut at the Meijiza Theater (1923). Sober and quiet programs such as Seki-no-To (Story on the revolt of Kuronushi Otomo in the Heian Period) were his favorite subjects.
