Mojibe Tokiwazu III

Background

Mojibe Tokiwazu was born in Tokyo, Japan. The son of Mojibe Shoju II, originally named Kotaro Suzuki.

Education

He was a disciple of his father Mojibe Shoju II and also of Rinchu, the celebrated samisen player.

Career

Mojibe Tokiwazu III and his father are recognized masters of the Tokiwazu school of samisen players. He was an adviser to the Tokiwazu Association and works exclusively for Shochiku Theatrical Company. Has also composed many tunes.

Achievements

• He is known for his sober and refined style. His favorite program was Onatsu Kyoran (a girl named Onatsu slowly going mad).
