Mononobe-no-Okoshi advised the Emperor to refrain from attempting to conquer Shiragi (a county in Korea) When in 552, Kudara (another county in Korea) presented the Emperor with a Buddhist image and scrip¬tures, Mononobe-no-Okoshi, along with Kamatari Fujiwara, maintained it would be harmful to the country to wor¬ship it.
The Emperor then gave it to Ina- me So,ga, who converted his home into a temple for the image. Okoshi attributed an epidemic, which happened to break out about the time, to the worship of the image and threw it into the moat at Horie in Naniwa (Osaka) and burnt Iname’s temple. This caused a bitter feud between the Mononobes and Sogas.
