After he had taught piano at the Kullak Academy in Berlin for many years, he moved to Paris, where he continued composing. He wrote an opera, Boabdil (1892), and a ballet, Laurin (1896), a violin concerto, a symphonic poem, Jeanne d'Arc, a piano concerto, two orchestral suites, three pieces for cello, and numerous pieces for piano four hands, including two books of Spanish dances. He made numerous appearances on the continent and in England as a pianist and conductor.
