Though the Pandects or Digest have contributed the most of the material, yet the Institutes and Code have furnished a considerable share, and the Novels have in a less degree also contributed to the subject-matter. Other original sources used were "Gaii Institutionum, Commentarii Quatuor;" in the Corpus Juris Rornani Ante Justiniani, Vol. I., p. 1; and Ulpiani Fragmenta Regularurn, ibid., Vol. I., p. 127. Bounce, 1841. There is an English edition of Gaius and Ulpiau, with the Latin text, translated by J. T. Abdy, LL.D., and Bryan Walker, M.A., LL.D., Cambridge, 1874; and a translation of Gaius with the Latin text, by Edward Poste, M.A., Oxford, 1871. Among the works used are the following: "Donelli, Opera Omnia," 12 Vols. Florentiuae, 18-10-1847. (There are other editions of this work.) "Samuelis StryMi, Opera Omnia," 16 Vols., with index. Florentines, 1837-40. (There' is an edition, Wittenberg, 1731.) Also "System des heutigen Rbmischen. Redds," 8 Vols. Berlin, 1840. "Geschichte des Rbmischen Rechtsim Mittetalter," 2d ed., 6 Vols. Heidelberg, 1834. Both of these works are
