After he became a Buddhist priest he called himself Eisen. Was also an accomplished waka poet. There is a collection of his waka. Was one of the best renga composers of his time and participated in a renga contest held at the Ju-nyoin Temple in Ohara (1482) at which Sogi and Socho, great masters of renga, were present.
He was later on bad terms with Sogi because Sogi did not include his poem in the Shinsen Tsukuba-shu Anthology which he compiled. He died in adversity.
