Background

Muralikrishna was born on February 24, 1958 in Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. Son of Sree Rama Chandra Rao and Krishnakumari Gudipati.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, Andhra University, Andhra Pradesh, India, 1977. Master of Science in Biochemistry, Andhra University, Andhra Pradesh, India, 1979. Doctor of Philosophy in Biochemistry, Mysore University, India, 1987.

Career

Dr.G.Muralikrishna, Formerly HOD and Chief Scientist* Scientist-G) was born on 24th February,1958 at Machilipatnam, Andhra Pradesh( Now retired at the age of 60 years ) obtained his Bachelors( Chemistry,Botany,Zoology-1977) and Masters( Biochemistry,1979) degrees from Andhra University, Vishakapatnam. He pursued his Doctoral programme on Plant Polysaccharides (1982-1985) at CFTRI and obtained his Ph.D( Biochemistry) in 1987 from Mysore University. Later on he was selected for the DAAD fellowship in 1987- to pursue his post- doctoral assignment (May1988-September 1990) at Kiel university of Germany on gangliosides and glycoproteins. Later in his career, he was selected for the prestigious DBT-overseas Associateship and carried out work at the University of Leipzig, Germany March 2008 –Sep 2008 on prebiotics. He lead CSIR-CFTRI, DAE and DBT funded projects on basic research and filed National and International patents. He delineated the structure-function relationship of many dietary fibre components and non-digestible oligosaccharides derived from cereal brans and pulse husks. He published more than 75 Peer-reviewed publications and several of them are highly cited( H-index-28; i-10 Index- 45; Citations :-2812).He gave several lectures in National and International Symposia. He is an Advisory Board Member for the E-Journal entitled “Trends in Carbohydrate Research and peer reviewer for more than 25 International journals.He has guided 14 Ph.D candidates for their Ph.D degrees.

  7.On December 19th,2018 he was bestowed with the most prestigious award of Association of carbohydrate chemists and Technologists of India "the life time achievement award" ( Rs.75,000,Citation,Memento and Shawl).
  
  8.Recently( December 5th,2019) he was bestowed with prestigious ACCT fellowship( Association of Carbohydrate Chemists and Technologists,India) at the International Carbohydrate Symposium held at Lucknow university,Lucknow.
  
  Presently he is serving as the task force member of different National funding agencies(DBT,FSSAI) located at New Delhi.His Ph.D students are highly placed in USA,Europe and India
