Mustafa was born in Sultantepe in Üsküdar, Istanbul on February 9, 1920. His father was Sâim Efendi, who was the imam of the Abdülbâki Efendi and Aziz Mahmud Hudayi mosques in the same district.
In 1938, Mustafa was registered in the Department of Turkish Fine Arts at State Fine Arts Academy, where he was taught by the calligrapher Necmettin Okyay, the uncle of his mother. At the same time, the artist began to take religious music lessons, also wondered about the photography.
Having left school after a while due to various reasons, Düzgünman returned to his father's profession and continued his career until the end of his life. The artist, who made fine samples of classical skin called "shemse" in his academic life at the academy, had to abandon that art which at the time was little demanded at the time. Düzgünman remained firmly attached to classical understanding in the art of ebru when it was open to newness in various subjects, added papaya to the flowering ebru varieties of Necmeddin Okyay, his teacher, who said that he passed him in ebruculuk.
Düzgünman, who opened and participated in some exhibitions since 1967, started his artistic career in 1940 and had continued for fifty years until his death. Düzgünman created a school with his own name in the art of ebru and made important contributions to recognition and spread of art of ebru with students such as Alparslan Babaoğlu, Fuat Başar, and Sabri Dancıracı. He was also an artisan who has stamped his imperial seal for the last thirty five years, serving both for his works and for the students he educated. Since 1957, he has continued his occupation with the art of ebru until his death. Mustafa Düzgünman passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 1990, and is buried at Kabir Karacaahmet Cemetery.
