Nancy Allen

Background

Nancy Allen was born on January 10, 1938, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. She is the daughter of Alan and Mary Lang Riester.

Education

Allen received her education at Pembroke College, graduating from it with a bachelor's degree in 1959. She then received her Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Brown University in 1963.

Career

Allen started her career as an art teacher at North Kingstown School Department in 1964 and since 1971, she worked at Pine School. In 1973, Allen, however, left her job to become a boating journalist, the position she held till 1978.

Since 1978, Allen has been working as a real estate broker, salesperson and freelance writer at Stuart, Florida.

Achievements

• Allen is best known as the author of the book, Fair Seafarer: A Honeymoon Adventure with the Merchant Marine, that she wrote while she was on a job trip with her husband. The book was published in 1997 by Bridge Works.

Allen first married Phillips V. Dean in 1958. The couple had one child, Jeffrey B. Dean. However, after 32 years of marriage, the couple got divorced, and in 1991, Allen married Robert B. Allen, 1991.
