南谿 橘
Tachibana Nankei was born on May 23, 1753 in Ise, Mie, Japan.
Tachibana studied literature under Shuan Kagawa in Kyoto.
Tachibana made extensive tours curing the sick and making literary discourses and in the Sanyo district he was looked upon as a second Kobo-Daishi, a distinguished priest of yore. Toward the end of the Temmei Era he was appointed physician to the Court. Nankei wrote many books and his Tozai-yuki, an account of his travels, is still being read.
