Narayan Sadashiv Hosmane, American Chemistry educator. Achievements include synthesis of over 100 main group metallacarboranes of pentagonal bipyramidal geometries and their coordinated complexes; discovery of zirconium-, hafnium-, titanium-, lanthanide- and yttrium-carborane sandwich compounds which are envisioned as potential precursors to Ziegler-Natta catalysts, and of main group metal sandwich compounds of the C2B4-carborane ligands.
