Loomba received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Panjab in 1947. Three years later he earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska. In 1954, Narendra was given a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Also in 1957, he received a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Management and Economics from the University of Wisconsin.
Loomba began his career as a teaching assistant at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1952. Three years later he took the same position at the University of Wisconsin. Then in 1957, Narendra became an assistant professor at the University of Wichita. Also he served as an assistant professor at the University of Iowa from 1959 to 1962.
In 1962, he was appointed an associate professor at Lehigh University. In 1963, Loomba became a professor at the same university. Three years later he held a position of a head of management science department at that university. Since 1968 Narendra has been a teacher of the Department of Management at Baruch College. In 1972, he became a chairman of the Department of Management at that college and held it for six years. Nowdays Loomba is a professor of Narendra Paul Loomba Department of Management at Baruch College.
In addition to teaching, he serves as a consultant to HealthWays Inc., the Ford Foundation, Phelps Dodge Cable & Wire Company and White Plains Hospital Medical Center.
Loomba is known for his publications such as "Implementation of Management Science in Latin America: A Case of Study and Generalizations in Management Science", "Planning and Management Science in Planning Review" and others.
He was awarded from Sigma Xi, Beta Gamma Sigma, Omnicorn Delta Kappa, Pi Mu Epsilon and Eta Kappa Nu.
