Narinaga Shino was born in 1326. Son of Emperor Go-daigo and his consort, Kadoko Fujiwara.
He went to Kamakura as commander of that region (1331), accompanied by Tadayoshi Ashikaga. Was appointed Seii-Tai-shogun, or commander of Imperial expeditionary forces (1335). When Tokiyuki Hojo revolted (the Nakasendai Trouble), he and Tadayoshi evacuated Kamakura and retreated to Kyoto. Was proclaimed Crown Prince by Emperor Komyo (1336) but was deposed when Emperor Godaigo fled to Yoshino. What happened to him subsequently is not known for certain. Although he is said to have died in 1344. Taiheiki, a historical romance, says that he was assassinated by the Hoios in Kyoto (1838).
