Natalia Dmitrievna Kasatkina was born on June 7, 1934, in Moscow, Russian Federation, in the family of engineer D.A/ Kasatkin, a representative of the famous Moscow merchant family, and children's writer Anna Kardashova.

Natalia Dmitrievna Kasatkina was born on June 7, 1934, in Moscow, Russian Federation, in the family of engineer D.A/ Kasatkin, a representative of the famous Moscow merchant family, and children's writer Anna Kardashova.
In 1953 she graduated from the Moscow Choreography School (teacher - Sulamith Messerer).
In 1954-1976 she was a principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet Company. She performed character dances in the ballets Swan Lake, Raymonda, Cinderella, Don Quixote, Sacred Spring, Carmen Suite.
Since the 1960s she works as a choreographer, staging performances with his husband, Vladimir Vasiliev. At the time of Thaw in 1965 the first of the directors in the USSR turned to the music of Igor Stravinsky and staged his "Sacred spring" at the Bolshoi Theater.
In 1977 she was appointed to chief choreographer of the concert ensemble "Classical ballet". Since then Kasatkina and Vasiliev have been the permanent artistic directors of this troupe, which since 1992 is called the State Theater of Classical Ballet under the direction of Natalia Kasatkina and Vladimir Vasilyev.
She was shown on television in a series of programs dedicated to the ballet.
