Dane, Nathan was born on December 29, 1752 in Ipswich, Massachusetts, United States. Son of Daniel and Abigail (Burnham) Dane.

Education

Educated Harvard, 1774-1778.

Career

Admitted to Massachusetts bar, 1782. Representative to Massachusetts General Court, 1782-1785. Delegate Continental Congress from Massachusetts, 1785-1787.

Co-drafter administration ordinance N.W. Territory, 1787. Judge Massachusetts Court Common Pleas for Essex County, 1793. Appointed commissioner to revise laws of Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 1795.

Presidential elector, 1812. Established Dane Professorship of Law, founder Dane Hall, Harvard. A founder Massachusetts Temperance Society (1st established society of its kind).
