(Probiotic microorganisms are recognised as being benefici...)
Probiotic microorganisms are recognised as being beneficial for human health. Prebiotics are substrates that are used preferentially by the probiotic bacteria for their growth. A great deal of interest has been generated in recent years in identifying probiotic bacteria and prebiotics, their characterization, mechanisms of action and their role in the prevention and management of human health disorders. Together they are referred to as synbiotic. This book is in response to the need for more current and global scope of probiotics and prebiotics. It contains chapters written by internationally recognized authors. The book has been planned to meet the needs of the researchers, health professionals, government regulatory agencies and industries.

(Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) are defined as techno...)
Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) are defined as technologies that employ the highly reactive hydroxyl radicals (OH•) as the main oxidative species for the breakdown of organic pollutants such as chemical dyes in the textile wastewater. In dyeing, printing, photocopy, salon, and dry-cleaner industries, respective high quantities of effluents with different compositions of organics pollutants are produced - depending on the wet processes employed. In actual fact, their effluents are characterised by high values of chemical oxygen demand (COD). Dyestuffs, in particular, are the most responsible for the effluent colouration, which, apart from being recalcitrant and unaesthetic, also reduce light transmission to aquatic life. The degree of dye fixation depends on the types of the cloths, fibres, hairs, and many other substances to be dyed, the shade of the dyes, the dyeing prerequisites, and many other parameters. Consequently, the decolourisation-mineralisation processes by immobilised TiO2-UV-H2O2 photocatalysis for the multitudinous dyes in any colourant production is needed and then immediately effected as an obligatory AOP towards the exact practical solutions.

(In this book, Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is ...)
In this book, Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is described as one of the pathogenic bacteria that is responsible for diarrhoea in human and farm animals. Several fimbrial adhesins of ETEC strains (K88, K99,987P and F41) were used as the primary character of ETEC diarrhoea. Regular dosages of combined K88-K99-987P and K88-K99-F41 through 4 commercial adjuvants: Freund’s, White oil, Al(OH)3, and Phosphate Buffer Saline (PBS) were immunised in chickens for IgY antibody production. IgY antibody extraction and purification methods from the eggs were devised. After HiTrap affinity column purification, SDS-PAGE confirmed that the extracted IgY was electrophoretic clean with a molecular weight of 188 kDa. ELISA test indicated that the induced IgYs were 5 titers higher as compared to the non-immunized chickens. The richness of lecithin and cholesterol in egg yolk was found to get the unpurified IgY stable throughout the stomach pH (3-4). Complexed IgY-egg powder (given in-vivo) as a novel food powder could transit the piglet’s stomach and had a curative effect against ETEC-inducing diarrhoea.

(Current diseases include metabolic diseases, respiratory ...)
Current diseases include metabolic diseases, respiratory allergies, gastrointestinal diseases, certain neurological disorders, autoimmune disorders, and musculoskeletal pain and fatigue. Patients with these diseases have been known to respond favorably to a treatment method of increasing dosages of composite selective probiotics, paraprobiotics, and probiotical cell fragment (PCF) supplements. PCFs such as of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria benefit the gastrointestinal system and have shown substantial local immune-enhancing benefits. These treatment methods have demonstrated positive results in 85.5% of cases of chronic tonsillitis and 90% in maxilloethmoidal sinusitis. This work is a summary of critical articles which supports the practice of routine clinical application of probiotics and its derivatives for the prevention and adjunctive treatment of current diseases. Improving the digestion of foods and maintaining a healthy gastrointestinal (GI) tract is undoubtedly critical to controlling most of the current diseases and also include daily discomforts. The association between a leaky gut or an impaired intestinal permeability and food allergenic reactions is explained. Gluten is somehow a justification for protein allergy, and should, therefore, be avoided by people with celiac disease. Composite selective probiotics and their derivatives have proven to be the immediate immunomodulators against many important diseases and illnesses. Lastly, we demonstrated that Lactobacillus S-layer proteins protect Salmonella-induced apoptosis through reduced caspase-3 activity (in much depth).
