Nedim studied at Fine Arts Academy under Bedri Rahmi Eyuboglu.
In 1948 Günsür moved to Paris and received a scholarship from the French government. He changed the impressionist painting that he had been pursuing until that time, with the influence of Picasso, Léger and Matisse, as well as African art, which he had recently recognized, to a semi-abstract understanding.
Günsür returned to Turkey in 1952 and worked as an art teacher in Ereğli. He then continued his studies independently in Istanbul. Nedim Günsür's art reflects the region's realities, the peculiarities of nature and life. Nedim Günsür died on 13 November 1994 in Izmir.
