Joseph, Missouri, April, 1868. Established, 1872, as manufacturer of plumbers’ and steam fitters’ supplies. Has headquarters at St. Louis and factories at Leclaire, Illinois, and Bessemer, Alabama Adopted profit-sharing with employes in 1886.
Established cooperative village Leclaire (Edwardsville, Illinois, Physician organization), 1890. Active in single-tax and social reform movements. Admitted customers to profit sharing in his business, 1905.
Introduced farmers’ cooperative creameries and credit societies and rural industrial education in Georgia and Louisiana, 1908, and cooperative groceries in New Orleans, 1910. Now retired. Home: Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
