Nezu Kaichiro was born in 1860.
Before Nezu Kaichiro started bus business career, he engaged in political activities as a member of the Kyoaisha Society. Became board chairman of the Tokyo Rice Exchange and vice-president of the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce. Elected to the House of Representatives four times since 1904.
Amassed a large fortune in the boom following the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905), was nominated a member of the House of Peers (1926). Was president or a director of the Tobu Railway Company and business firms in the transportation, warehousing, gas, cement, cinema, insurance and other lines. Became president of the Kokumin Shimbun succeeding Soho Tokutomi (1929) but soon resigned.
