Travelled in the Philippines with Teifu Suganuraa (1890). Joined the staff of the newspaper Nikon. Visited Europe (1898). After returning to Japan, he wrote for the Nihon and Nircku Shimbun and other periodicals. Became editor-in-chief of the KyushU Nippo newspaper (1905) and elected to the House of Representatives (1909).
Wrote books on the 47 Ronin and other historical subjects.
He was a member of the Kakushin-td party. Founded the Gishikai, an organization engaging in the research of the venaetta of the famous 47 Loyal Ronin of Ako.
