Career
He was badly wounded in the battle. After the War he commanded corvette America and troopship Yaponets on Far East. The expedition made geographic discoveries at a coast of modern Primorsky Krai (Peter the Great Gulf, Nakhodka Bay e tc) and Sakhalin (Moneron Island).
He was one of founders of Vladivostok and hydrographic post on a place of modern Nakhodka.
Nikolay Shkot became Captain First Rank in 1868. He died in Saint St. Petersburg after a long illness.
An island in Sea of Japan, a village and a river in South Primorye, and a cape in Olga Bay are named after him.
