(This book features a new measure-theoretic approach to st...)
This book features a new measure-theoretic approach to stochastic integration, opening up the field for researchers in measure and integration theory, functional analysis, probability theory, and stochastic processes. Nicolae Dinculeanu compiles and consolidates information from disparate journal articles-including his own results-presenting a comprehensive, up-to-date treatment of the theory in two major parts. He first develops a general integration theory, discussing vector integration with respect to measures with finite semivariation, then applies the theory to stochastic integration in Banach spaces.

Nicolae Dinculeanu was born on February 26, 1925, in Padea, Romania. He is a son of Nicolae Dobrescu and Frusina Dobrescu.
After graduating from the Military High School in Craiova, Nicolae Dinculeanu attended the Military Academy, becoming the second lieutenant after graduation in 1945. One year later, he was fired from the army, because he was considered "unadaptable" to the newly installed communist regime. Afterward, Nicolae Dinculeanu attended the Electronics Faculty at the Polytechnic University of Bucharest (1945-1950), where he received an engineering degree. At the same time, he attended the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Bucharest (1946-1951), from which he received a Doctor of Philosophy in 1957. He received honorary doctorates from the University of Craiova, 1995, and the University of Bucharest, 2001.
Dedicated to Mathematics, Nicolae Dinculeanu began his didactical activity in 1950 as a member of the Mathematical Analysis Section of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Bucharest. He began as an assistant, then became a lecturer in 1951, an associate professor in 1960, and a professor of mathematics in 1966. He remained a member of this section until 1976 when he left Romania and established himself in the United States. He mainly taught Mathematical Analysis, Functional Analysis, and Measure and Integration Theory. In 1977, he became a professor of mathematics at the University of Florida.
In 1966-1967, he was a visiting professor at Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. In 1970-1971, Nicolae Dinculeanu was a Distinguished Mellon Visiting Professor at the University of Pittsburgh. He was a guest speaker at colleges and universities throughout the world. He also wrote monographs in Romanian and contributed to scientific journals.
