After the Meiji Restoration took interest in philanthropic works, such as preservation of the threestoried pagoda at Nembutsuji Temple, Sakai, and the reconstruction of two shrines at Kong-buji Temple at Mt. Koya, and contributing large funds for public works in several districts. His last years, however, were spent in adverse circumstances.
