Career

Took part in the Russo-Japanese war, 1904-1905. During World War I, on active service as a colonel. Joined the Red Army, 1918.

During the Civil War, chief-of-staff of the Western, Southern and SouthWestern fronts, 1919-1920. In the 1920s, held high administrative positions in the Red Army. Commander of Engineers of the Red Army, 1930.

The emphasis on peaceful coexistence doesn’t mean that the Soviet Union accepted a static world with clear lines. Socialism is inevitable and the "correlations of forces" were moving towards socialism.
