Until 1913 studied at Saint St. Petersburg Military Medical Academy but was expelled for revol activities. 1918 obtained medical diploma.
1923 defended doctor’s thesis on epidemic encephalitis. From 1929 head, Chair of Physiotherapy, Rostov Medical Institute. From 1933 head Chair of Nervous Diseases, Ivanovsk Medical Institute.
From 1939 professor, Voronezh Medical Institute. Specialized in nerve infections, diseases of the vegetative nervous system and brain tumors. Described interhypophysical disease (Itsenko-Cushing disease) and a new form of subcortical epilepsy (Vorsaba-Itsenko epilepsy).
Wrote over 100 works, including six monographs.
