Fought in Civil War; contributed to Rostov Newspaper “Molot” and Bakhmut (now Artemovsk) newspaper “Vserossiyskaya kochegarka”. Member, “Zaboy” Donbass proletarian writers union. 1925 moved to Leningrad and worked for ed staff of Children’s Department, State Publ House.
Edited children's journals: “Yozh” (1928-1929). “Chizh” (1934 and 1937). “Sverchok” (1937); wrote for children under the pseudonyms Makar Svircpyy and South. Kravtsov.
1937 arrested by State Security organs.
Communist Party member from 1920.
