After graduate physician, then assistant to Professor P. A. Minakov, Chair of Forensic Medical, Medical Faculty, 1st Moscow University. From 1927 professor and head, Chair of Forensic Medical, Smolensk Medical Institute. From 1932 head, Chair of Forensic Medical, 1st and 2nd Moscow Medical Institute and director, Research Institute of Forensic Medical, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics People's Commissariat of Health.
Did research on the forensic medical applications of hematology, serology, isoserology, spectral analysis and toxicology. Also studied the history of forensic medical. Considered a pioneer of Soviet forensic hematology.
Introduced techniques of determining hemoglobin and its derivatives and of studying precipitation reaction in forensic medical. Wrote over 50 works, including several textbooks.
