1910-1916 director, Bezenchuk Agric Experimental Station. 1920-1925 associate, from 1925 director, Saratov Agric Experimental Station. From 1929 director, All-Union Agric Research Institute.
Studied pedology, agronomy, plant-growing, tillage systems and plant physiology. Opposed Academy Vil’yams’ grass-arable system and advocated reclamation of Virgin Lands.
