Fought in 1904-1905 Russo-Japanese War. 1905-1906 command in Caucasus. From 1913 chief of staff, Caucasian Military district.
1915 — 17 commander, Caucasian Army. From March 1917 commander, Caucasian Front. After 1917 October Revol went to Finland.
1919 appointed commander in chief Northwestern Army, which in May and August launched first campaign against Petrograd. Member, Northwestern Government.
October—November 1919 launched attack on Petrograd which was beaten off by Red Army. November 1919 retreated to Est with the remnants of his troops. January 1920 his army was demobilized.
Emigrated to England.
