Nikolay Ivanovich Syrovatsky was born on March 18, 1925 in Saguny Sloboda of Ostrogozhsky district of Voronezh region, Russian Federation.
Nikolay Ivanovich graduated from the Rossoshansky Teachers’ Institute (1948) and the Faculty of Philology of the Voronezh State Pedagogical Institute (now Voronezh State Pedagogical University) (1958).
Nikolay Ivanovich worked as a Russian language teacher in Kostomarovskaya (1948-1949) and Sagunovskaya (1949-1951) secondary schools in Podgorensky district, also in various schools in Verkhnemamonsky district (1951-1977). He was a teacher of Russian Language and Literature at the auxiliary residential school in the village of Verkhny Mamon.
Nikolay Ivanovich wrote a plethora of books and articles on the history of Verkhnemamonsky and Podgorensky districts in the local newspaper. Among his essays, there are Saguny Sloboda: Historical Essay (Voronezh, 1988); History of Verkhnemamonsky District (Voronezh, 1990); Native Land (Voronezh, 1993); Fatherland: Pages of History of Verkhnemamonsky and Adjacent Areas (Voronezh, 1996); Our Countrymen: Almanac (Voronezh, 2004).
