Nikolay Pavlovitch Peterson was a teacher in Yasnaya Polyana school (1862-1863), district school in the city of Bogorodsk, Moscow province (1864-1866), where he met with Nikolai Fedorovich Fedorov and became his disciple and friend.
He was an assistant librarian Chertkov library in Moscow (1867-1869), secretary of the Congress of justices of the peace in the cities of Spask and Kerensk, city judge in Moksha Penza province (1870-1894), judge in Voronezh (1894-1899).
Nikolay Pavlovitch Peterson was a member of the district court in Ashgabat (1899-1904), Verny (1904-1912), Zaraysk, Ryazan province (1912-1917). He prepared articles by Nikolai Fedorovich Fedorov for publication in the newspaper "don" (1896-1898), where he placed a few notes. Together with N. F. Fedorov published "To the cause of peace, excited by the note of the 12th of August, 1898" (Voronezh, 1899).
After the death of N.F. Fedorov Peterson has prepared a 2-volume edition of his works "the Philosophy of common cause" (Loyal, 1906; Moscow, 1913; together with V.A. Kozhevnikov).
