Nikolay Timofeevich Mantrov graduated from the Ramonye secondary school. In 1983, he graduated from the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute. The Mantrov's diploma work was the play "The Great man". In total, during the years of studying at the Literature Institute, he wrote four multi-act and five one-act plays, several stories.
After the army service he lived in Belgorod, and worked as a trolleybus driver during 1971-1974. In 1974-1994, he was a stock breeding technician at the suburban co-operative farm "Dubovoye". The author of the books "I walk on the Kazakhstan land" (Belgorod, 2002), "The day when seagulls cry" (Belgorod, 2004).
In 1986-1987, the playwright worked on the play with two acts "Under the dust of centuries", which was devoted to the problems of exploration and development of the Kursk magnetic anomaly. Was published in such magazines as "Podyom", "Strannik", and in the almanac "Swetoch". In 1987, the Mantrov’s play "Beneath the dust of ages" was performed in the Belgorod drama theatre.
