Graduate Moscow Teachers’ Training Institute.
From 1934 worked at Museum of the Institute of Marxism-Leninism, Central Committee, All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) and at Lenin Centr Museum. 1936-1942 also taught at Moscow City Teachers’ Training Institute and Moscow Institute of Philosophy, Literature and History, then at Kazan’ Teachers’ Training Institute. From 1942 senior associate, from 1952 head, Medieval History Section, Institute of History, Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics Academy of Sciences.
From 1943 also taught at Moscow University. Did research on the medieval history of Western Europe with special reference to France. Board member, Soviet-French Friendship Social.
Communist Party member from 1939.
