Nobutaka Yoshimatsu was born in 1891 in Wakayama Prefecture, Japan.
Served as subassistant, assistant and lecturer at his alma mater. Promoted to professor (1921) and served as dean of Medical Department of Osaka University. Held additional posts of director of the hospital attached to Medical Department of Osaka University, member of Committee for State Examination for Medical Practitioners, member of Gakujutsu Shorei Shingikai (Science Encouragement Council) (from 1950), director of Midwives' School attached to Osaka University and president of Nara Medical University and later became president of Nara Prefectural Medical University.
