In more than forty selections, representing all schools of anthropology, the authors integrate the field of physical anthropology with the other biological sciences in a manner, appropriate to the needs of the advanced, as well as the freshman and sophomore student. By providing materials on classic Mendelian genetics, human population genetics, evolutionary forces and human populations, paleontology and taxonomy, human fossil records and race as evolutionary process, the authors bring the student in contact not only with a range of interest, but also with the thinking and research of major figures in the field.

Noel Korn was born on June 25, 1923, in New York City, New York, United States.
Noel received degrees in Anthropology from New York University and the University of California, Los Angeles.
In the 1970's, Korn founded and headed learning centers for minority and nontraditional college students at Los Angeles City College and California State University, Northridge. Moving into administration, he also served as vice president of academic affairs at East Los Angeles College. After his retirement from that position, Korn was hired in 1986 as interim vice president of instructional services at Cerritos College in Norwalk.
In addition, Noel served as a teacher of Anthropology at Los Angeles Valley College and the University of California, Los Angeles. During his tenure at Los Angeles Valley College, he brought college courses to public television in that region.
During his career, Korn wrote three books. "Human Evolution" appeared in 1959 and was subsequently published in three editions. "Atlas of Fossil Man" was published in 1971 and "Human Populations and Their Genetic Diversity" came out in 1975. Besides, Noel wrote letters to The Times on government affairs.
It's also worth noting, that, as Korn was always interested in making education available to underserved segments of the population, he worked extensively with public libraries and with the PBS station to air college-level classes.
Noel Korn was a well-known anthropologist and author of three books, who was instrumental in televising college-credit courses over Los Angeles' PBS television station, KCET. He also worked to make education accessible to underserved segments of the population and established learning centers for minority and nontraditional college students at Los Angeles City College and California State University, Northridge.
