Background
Buddhist priest. The son of Zenran, and the grandson of Shinran. Began studying the doctrine of Jodo Shinshii Sect under his grandfather at an early age, and was appointed 2nd chief priest of Honganji Temple. Later resigned in favor of Kakunyo and retired to
Oami in Oshii (northern Japan) where he devoted his time to preaching.
