Ogata Kenkichi graduated from Economics Department of Kyoto University (1920).
Ogata Kenkichi entered Nansen Ginko (Bank of South Korea) and became acting manager of its Kaigen (Kaiyuan) and Tokyo branches. Transferred to Chosen Shintaku Kaisha (Trust Company) (1932) and served as director of its Trust Department, manager of its Fuzan (Pusan) Branch, director of Judgment Department and inspector. Became director and president of Shimbo Dozan Kaisha (Copper Mining Company) (1937) and president of Kuma Kogyo Kaisha (Industrial Enterprise Company) (1939) and thereafter served as director of a few other industrial companies. After Shimbii Dozan Kaisha was renamed Shimbo Sangyo Kaisha (Industrial Company) (1946) was appointed its president (1949). Later became president of Gando Mining Company which is an affiliated company of the above firm.
