Oguri Kozaburo graduated from Naval Academy (1889).
Oguri Kozaburo promoted to captain (1907) and then to rear admiral (1913). He served as chairman of the commission to study the adoption of submarines, military attache at Japanese Embassy in Britain and Commander of 1st Special Service Fleet. Promoted to vice-admiral (1917). He became director of Kure Naval Arsenal. Went to England as an aide to Prince Yorihito. Later served as Commander of 3rd Fleet and Commander-in-Chief of Maizuru Naval Station. Rose to the rank of full general (1923). Placed on reserve list (1924).
